The scanner is a Epson Perfection 1250 capable of resolutions up to 2400 dpi.
It is located in the Sidney-Pacific Resource Center (room NW86-158)
and is free for everyone to use. It is connected to a Dell Dimension
workstation (next to the two Macintosch computers).
The scanner is configured to work with any WIA or TWAIN compatible
application (WIA is the newer, preferred method. TWAIN is there for
backwards compatibility). In particular you can use it with Adobe
Acrobat or Photoshop (already installed on the computer).

To scan from Adobe Acrobat:
Start Acrobat. Choose File | Create PDF | From Scanner...
Choose the Epson WIA device. The wizard will guide you from there.

To scan from Adobe Photoshop:
Start Photoshop. Choose File | Import
Choose the Epson WIA device. The wizard will guide you from there.
Attention: please do not disconnect the scanner from
the Dell computer. If you do, it will likely not work when connected
back to the Dell computer, in which case an administrator will have to
be contacted, taking their time from bringing new improvements to the
Resource Center and inconveniencing your fellow users in the meantime.
